Medication Optimization
Dr. Dawson has a strong background in pharmacology and is skilled at helping patients achieve the optimal level of pain control from their pain medications. This is useful for patients who have not responded to conservative treatment or who have been taking medications on a long-term basis and are no longer receiving adequate pain control despite higher and higher doses. Dr. Dawson is also able to offer alternatives to oral medications for patients who are experiencing intolerable physical side effects.

Interventional Pain Procedures
Dr. Dawson is trained in the latest technologies and can help patients determine the best interventional treatment options to meet their needs.
 

Interventional techniques include:
-Spine and nerve injections,
-Implantable pain management devices,
-Botox, kyphoplasty, and vertebroplasty.

Outpatient Opiate Taper Program
Dr. Dawson is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine so is uniquely qualified to direct the Northern California Pain Care Opiate Taper Program.
 

Our program includes Suboxone induction and methadone treatment, to help patients addicted to prescription drugs safely withdraw from their medications in a cost-effective, confidential, outpatient setting. Referral to support services is also provided to insure the best chance of long-term recovery.

Inpatient Hospital Consultations
Dr. Dawson is available for inpatient hospital consultations at Marin General Hospital, Novato Community Hospital, and Sonoma Valley Hospital, and is able to provide continued care to existing patients and new patients who experience pain management problems after being admitted to the hospital.

Palliative Care
Dr. Dawson works collaboratively with Hospice to provide palliative care options to patients experiencing pain related to terminal or untreatable conditions, including cancer.

Referral to Ancillary Services
Dr. Dawson coordinates physical therapy and occupational therapy services as well as referrals to cognitive behavioral treatment providers or other specialists to facilitate a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to care.
